Indians Take 1-0 Series Lead
The Oak Forest Indians took a huge step in their quest for their first SSWBL Title by squeaking out a victory Saturday at Homewood-Flossmoore High School. The game was a pitchers dual with both teams looking sharp throughout the game. The Indians finally broke the scoreless tie in the 4th innings by scoring a run. But the Lansing Nuts, who are the defending champions and have been in this the last 3 years didn't waver as the tied the score in the 6th inning. When it seemed like this game was destined for extra innings, the Indians managed to get a run from somewhere, and managed to hold the potent Nuts offence in the 7th innings. "It kind of hurt, but we have been here before, and our guys know what need to be done" said head Nut Tom Segal. "We were just hoping to get a leg up in the first game, because we know anything can happen, and will" said head Chief Luis Calderone of the Indians. Look for Sundays game two to be a real barn burner. Sloan says - It goes to game three -which might have more pop than Hurricane Irene - Good Night
